| Occassionally it is time for redoing a page about oneself, so follows something of an update :o) I have been creating things of one kind or another since I can remember (As a child I was determined, year after year, that I could make a playhouse out of coloring book covers!). I have been working with polymer clay off and on for perhaps 15 years, mostly creating things for myself or friends. I love to create (my father hated that word, only God creates LOL!)...so ok, I love to work with the clay and see what little spirit emerges. I hesitate to call them dolls, even, because when they are finished they often seem to be someone completely separate from me. I love that part of it. In regards to me and my life, I am essentially a hippie at heart and right now live in the high desert of New Mexico (14 miles from nearest gas station or po) where I now have 4 goats, 18 chickens and a horse! :o) We are hping our Nubian goat girls are bred and provide milk and playful wondrous babies in a few months. hope to ! I havea greenhouse too, funky but attached to my art room (also a laundry room :o) I grew up on the coast of California (about 1 hour north of Santa Barbara) and while I miss the ocean, and yes fog!!, I love the wilderness where I am now at 7500 feet elevation! I am now 46 and got married last December (wedding pic is above) to my soul mate, and also the man who makes jewelry for my sculpts! He is a silversmith. I have...uh hummm...5 children. I am not going to go into my credentials. There are some but honestly, in true art there are no credential aside from life! Either you like my work and it touches you, or not. Of course, I would love if all people could connect to my art and get something wondrous from it :o) But we touch the ones we must in the end. Ok so I sound a bit metaphysical and confident eh? The truth is that I am searching, like anyone else, and perhaps more so than many. Through my art though I seek and sometimes find that sense of release and truth in the act of living as I struggle with daily life and parenting and all of that! sigh! :o) And double sigh on going through permenopause and trying to find some balance in life :o) LOL I use the name Celtic Juju for two reasons. Juju refers to the nickname my best friend Sherrie gave me years ago (though it also refers to magic!). I use Celtic in my name because my heritage is very important to me. I love genealogy and thus far have traced my lineage back to Scotland, Ireland, and Wales. I think that in America we often loose sight of our ancestry and sometimes being American isn't enough. I am proud to feel very rooted in my Celtic heritage. Ok, so is that enough personal information for you? :o) I would like to lastly thank all of the people who have really made all of this possible. These are the people who have encouraged me, supported me, and made me truly realize that I may have something worth sharing! And I would also like to thank all the people who look at, bid and purchase my work! Thank you for seeing something intriguing and truly worthwhile in the individuals I sculpt. JAR (Julie Ann Rodgers) It is TRULY an honor to be noted! For "what my art means to me" click HERE! |
